You are invited to join us as we have fun together, re-create, be refreshed, connect with friends, pray, enjoy creation, take time to listen to each other's stories, and gather for meals around the table while also asking God to reveal how he is still working in our lives and world.

Campus by the Sea (CBS)
is a non-profit camp operated by InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. CBS is located on Catalina Island, three miles west of the town of Avalon. Its secluded beach is nestled between two mountain ridges. CBS provides a setting for retreats that is free from many of the mainland “distractions.” It is a place to appreciate nature and enjoy a simple yet hospitable lifestyle.

With hiking, beachfront activities, snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, basketball, volley ball, ping pong, and a children's playground area there is something for everyone who is looking to get away and enjoy the outdoors.

Informal gathering times together will be family-friendly, and supervised activities will be offered for children and youth during the Saturday morning session. Meals will be provided from Friday lunch through Sunday lunch. Please inform our staff with vegetarian meal requests and special accommodation needs. Sleeping will be in enclosed cabins, open air cabins, or tents (each with a double bed and 1-3 bunk beds).

Cost: All inclusive package includes: roundtrip boat transportation, 7 meals (lunch on Friday through lunch on Sunday),
lodging and retreat materials.

Paperwork and final payment are due to the church office before Sunday, May 17, 2012.

What to Bring: Click here for a detailed Suggested To-Bring List
• A Photo of you and/or your family for our camp memory book. Instructions and supplies will be provided on our first night. Each household is asked to create a page during the retreat. Previous memory albums are availiable in our church library.
• Special Offering: As with our tradition, we are receiving an offering on Sunday morning for the camp. This year, we will contribute to their “Water Front Project.” They hope to enhance their swimming, basketball, and recreation facilities to accommodate the needs of guests. Please write checks to “IVCF” for a charitable tax contribution letter given by the camp. To avoid any confusion, please bring your regular church offering with you to our Sunday service the week before or after camp.
• Label Your Luggage: Place a tag or use masking tape and write "FBCR. CBS. YOUR NAME" on all your bag/luggage. We will be on a chartered boat with other passengers heading to Avalon.
• Clothing:
Informal clothes such as t-shirts, jeans and shorts; swimsuit; towel; jacket or sweats for chilly mornings and evenings; practical shoes for hiking and beach shoes (camp has a rocky beach).
• Bedding: A sleeping bag works best and optional twin sheets, CBS provides one pillow and pillowcase for each camper.
• Miscellaneous: Medications, inexpensive waterbottle (label your name), sunscreen, personal toiletries and items, hat,
a flashlight (ESSENTIAL). There are no laundry facilities.
• Do Not Bring: Radios, pets, weapons, or SCUBA equipment.

Youth in 6th-12th grade will participate in their session program.

Families With Children:
Portable "Pack and Play" cribs are available for infants/toddlers upon request but bring your own linens. Families are encouraged to participate in our main group sessions (Friday evening, Saturday morning, Saturday evening, Saturday evening campfire, and Sunday morning worship service) as you are able. A microwave and refrigerator are available
24 hours in the Dining Hall area along with hot beverages (coffee and hot cocoa). Nursery childcare (ages 0-24 months) is provided during the Saturday morning group session time with a childcare reservation. Children and youth programming offered during the adult Saturday morning session.

Sign Up for a Kayak Outing or Hike:
During the Saturday afternoon free time, we will offer a few group activities in addition to snorkeling, swimming, naps, games, and however you want to enjoy the scenic views. Sign up on a first come basis during our gathering sessions.
•Kayak Outing to Willow Cove (next to Toyon Bay) for first 25 sign ups from 2:10-3:30 p.m. Casual pace for those wanting to kayak along the island with friends. Limited single and multiple person kayaks are available.
•Hike to Shady Grove (Time TBA based on sign ups). Casual roundtrip pace takes about 45 minutes. Hiking under mostly shaded terrain with a few hills that will help strengthen your calf muscles without feeling like you have completed a marathon.

What is OTS?
During the retreat, we have the Opportunity to Serve (OTS) at every meal. It's actually fun and a wonderful way to connect while serving with others. Ten people from our group are requested to arrive 10 minutes before each meal and also assist with cleanup after meals.
