For Christians, Easter is the climax of the worship year as the church reflects upon and proclaims the central truth of its faiththat Christ is alive and with us. The significance of this affirmation is accented not only on Easter morning, but also in special observances during the preceding 40 days. Starting on Ash Wednesday, the church embarks on a journey of reflection and penitence.
Different churches have different ways of observing the days preceding Easter. Some churches encourage people to give up something as a sacrifice. Other churches encourage people to take up a new challenge or discipline.
Everyone is free at First Baptist Redlands to observe Lent in the way that best helps them grow as a disciple of Jesus and as a child of God. Our Sunday morning services will accent some of the challenges we encounter today as we follow Jesus. Everyone is encouraged to participate fully in the worship life of the church during this season that we might all grow in faith and service.

Set in modern day southern Africa, this film retells the story of Jesus, setting his birth in a shantytown and casting him as a pacifist during a growing time of war. This movie asks its viewers to imagine what Jesus' message and ministry might have looked like in this familiar and unsettling modern context.
All are welcome, however the graphic nature of the movie makes it most suitable for those youth age and above. Please contact Pastor Erin Goddard for more information.
Sponsored by the Christian Education Commission.
